Behind the Song

"Blunt Force Lullaby" is the track that best embodies the entire thesis of Apocalypse Ballet: beauty and destruction are not opposites. They're dance partners.

I tried to write a nice, soothing song to help people fall asleep, but then I remembered that sleep is for the weak and I'd rather rattle your windows. This track starts like a hug and ends like a wrestling move. The contrast is the point.

The opening is genuinely tender - soft pads, gentle melody, the kind of thing you'd play in a spa. And then the floor drops out and what replaces it has the emotional subtlety of a freight train wearing a bow tie. The lullaby doesn't disappear, though. It's still in there, woven through the chaos, glitch vocals and all. That's the surreal beauty of the thing - it never stops being gentle. It just redefines what "gentle" sounds like at 140 BPM.
