Behind the Song

"Vast" was born on a drive through Saskatchewan. If you've never driven through the Canadian prairies, the experience is hard to explain. You crest a hill and the landscape just... keeps going. There's no end to it. The horizon isn't a line - it's a suggestion. The sky takes up more of your field of vision than the land does, and at sunset the whole thing turns into a painting that shouldn't be physically possible.

This track captures that moment. The solo cello carries the melody the way a single road carries you through open country - one continuous line through infinite space. The cinematic electronic elements fill the periphery like the sky fills the edges of your vision. And the ethereal vocal chops float through the mix like the light itself, refracting, scattering, turning the ordinary into the transcendent.

It's an ode to the open road and the beauty of the space between destinations. Not where you're going. Not where you've been. Just the vastness of right now.
